    The geochemistry program at Bowling Green encompasses a wide range of interests.  Courses are offered in geochemistry, geochemistry of sediments, materials science, as well as related areas of sedimentology, hydrology, and environmental geology.  Students are encouraged to take a variety of courses in addition to a core of geochemistry so that they acquire the broad background necessary for most careers.  Of the recent graduates, some attend graduate school at top universities, but most now work for environmentally-related firms.  The new program in materials science has also opened many new career opportunities. Projects done by faculty and students over the past few years include:

    Geochemistry is also an important component of our environmental geology program.  This program is interdisciplinary and integrates geochemistry, surface water hydrology, groundwater hydrology, applied geophysics, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
